PORTLAND, Ore. – Sept 18, 2012 – Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. (CBA) (Nasdaq: BREW), an independent craft brewing company, has been selected as a Top Workplace by The Oregonian. The company was selected in the top five mid-size companies in Oregon and SW Washington based on employees’ survey feedback covering topics such as work environment, company benefits and job satisfaction.

“We are honored that our employees consider Craft Brew a great workplace that values their effort and supports their professional growth,” said Terry Michaelson, CEO. “Our employees are the cornerstone to the company’s success.  I am proud of their leadership, creativity, collaborative teamwork and all we have accomplished together.”

The Oregonian’s Top Workplaces list of the best places to work in Oregon and Southwest Washington was published in a special section on Sept. 16. Companies were chosen through online nominations, which were followed by comprehensive employee surveys. The top 60 scoring nominees made the Top Workplaces list.

The Oregonian partnered with research firm Workplace Dynamics to measure the organizational health of Portland area companies. In its sixth year, the Top Workplaces survey has partnered with the top 30 most prestigious publications in the country and surveyed over one million employees in 4,000 organizations. Data from Workplace Dynamics has shown that companies that are organizationally healthy are more successful than their competitors. On average, exceptionally healthy organizations have outperformed the S&P 500 index by 16 percent a year since it started in October 2008.

About Craft Brew Alliance – CBA is an independent, publicly traded craft brewing company that was formed with the merger of leading Pacific Northwest craft brewers – Widmer Brothers Brewing and Redhook Ale Brewery – in 2008. With an eye toward preserving and growing one-of-a-kind craft beers and brands, CBA was joined by Kona Brewing Company in 2010. Craft Brew Alliance launched Omission beer in 2012.

When Kurt & Rob Widmer founded Widmer Brothers Brewing in 1984, they didn’t confine their brewing exploration to strict style guidelines.  To this day, Widmer Brothers continues to create craft beers with a unique and unconventional twist on traditional styles that are award winning and please a wide range of craft beer lovers.

Redhook began in a Seattle transmission shop in 1981 and those colorful roots are reflected in the brand’s personality to this day.  The eminently drinkable beers consistently win awards and please crowds across the United States.

Kona Brewing was founded in 1994 by the father and son team of Cameron Healy and Spoon Khalsa, who dreamed of crafting fresh, local-island brews with spirit, passion and quality.  As the largest craft brewery in Hawaii, Kona personifies the laid-back, passionate lifestyle and environmentally conscious attitude of the Hawaiian people and culture.

Omission beer is the first craft beer brand in the United States focused exclusively on brewing great tasting craft beers with traditional beer ingredients, including malted barley, that are specially crafted to remove gluten. Omission Pale Ale and Omission Lager are now available in markets nationwide.
